"Very few Westerners have heard of Györ and so it receives far fewer international visitors than it deserves. It probably doesn’t help that from the motorway, the city appears to be an industrial one with little of interest. In fact, it is one of the more interesting places in western Hungary. This is known to the Hungarians, East Austrians and those from the Slovac Republic so at times accommodation can be difficult to find. It is also a cultural and educational centre, as well as a bishop's seat."
